This series has been inspired by the vision of Margaret Young, Founder of Age Knowble, and Immediate Past Chairperson of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People. Through digital media, the “Age With Rights and Dignity” project amplifies the voices of advocates around the world who are working on the human rights of older persons and showcases the narratives on why more people need to join the movement to make new UN Convention a reality. Go to the Age Knowble Human Rights Day 2024 blog to find out more and raise your voice by signing the global petition for the UN Convention.

I am also excited to introduce you to two wonderful guest interviewers - younger women who are committed to these issues, and will be joining me in this series to interview some of our esteemed guests - Kira Gawenus and Faith Young.

Faith Young is completing her final year of undergraduate studies in finance, sustainability and social impact. She is currently volunteering with the secretariat of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People, supporting NGOs in protecting the rights of older persons. She has worked at an affordable housing organization in the past, which led to an interest in protecting the human rights of older persons and advocating for a convention on the rights of older persons at the 14th session of the Open-Ended Working Group on Ageing. Faith is excited to learn more and help share the stories of older advocates through this podcast series.

Kira Gawenus is currently finishing her 4th year of psychology at the University of British Columbia and has a passion for gerontology and advocating for older adults' rights and mental health. With a background in communications and project coordination, Kira has led impactful initiatives, including interviewing climate activists surrounding eco-grief and anxiety. Her unique perspective combines a love for lifelong learning with a commitment to creating positive change for aging populations. She is thrilled to be a part of this project.
